Weekly Update 9th May 2017

Posted on: 9th May 2017

The first two meetings of the year at Newmarket is always a busy time for the yard. We had a lot of owners coming to see their horses that they have not seen for the best part of six months.

REGICIDE provided us with a win at Lingfield which was very welcome. we have had some horses run well but the horses have not really got going yet. REPLENISH was second at the same meeting and has come out of the race in very good form. The two unraced fillies SYMBOL and NATHALIE ran very encouraging first races. COLONIAL CLASSIC ran very well at Goodwood on Saturday. We think MASTER ARCHER needs a couple more furlongs before we see him at his best. He is staying on over a mile and a quarter but doesn't quite have the turn of foot that you need. We were very disappointed with MAGICAL DREAMER whose behaviour let her down. We are trying a few things at home and she does look much sweeter which hopefully we will see on the racecourse. ZEST race did not going according to plan after missing the break and the same could be said about WOOTYHOOT at Windsor yesterday evening.

Going round evening stables today was very encouraging as most of the horses looked great. A few horses are holding on to their winter coats as it is still very cold at times. The colts and geldings in our front yard look great and it should not be long before we start getting some winners.

The weather is so changeable at the moment. One day last week the horses had the first pick of the year as it was so warm and this week it has gone very cold again.
