Landwade Lad Knocks Them For Six At Windsor

Posted on: 9th Aug 2016

Little LANDWADE LAD who was carrying the top weight of ten stone battled hard to win The SkyBet Handicap at Windsor last night. He might be small but he has a huge heart and dug deep to win by a short head. He got tired and veered across the course but the interference was deemed too late to effect the result. He is such a bonny little horse and is very consistent. Oisin Murphy rode a lovely race and liked him. This is his first proper race since last November but he has run in a couple of charity races for Sheikh Fahed. The first one he nearly won, at Ascot, but was caught on the line.

James and I had a little break for two days at Aldeburgh. It is hard to know if it is a town or a village but it is a charming place with a great atmosphere. We felt like getting away from everything for two nights. Sitting having a drink before dinner I saw our friends Andrew & Julia Turner walk into the hotel. It turned out that they were staying in the hotel a few rooms up from us. They have owned horses at Pegasus for years and we have had a lot of fun with the likes of SPRING JIM and frustrating times with INCENDO and good times with LEVI DRAPER who won four times on the trot. They now own a Mastercraftsman filly called LADY BERGAMOT. It was fun to see them and James was happy as he had someone else to talk to other than me!
