York Here We Come

Posted on: 16th May 2017

The four runners on Saturday ran blinders giving us two seconds and two thirds. LORD GEORGE was top weight in his race and unfortunately the rather sedate pace did not suit him and he did not have the turn of foot needed but he ran on to finish third. The 1m4f turned out to be more like 1m2f
which makes us think that we are going to try him over further next time. STAR STORM ran his best race for a while when finishing second in the 1m4f Listed race. He has been much easier to train this spring and has been doing his work a lot better. Hopefully there is more to come from him. PERMISSION ran her very best to finish second giving the winner a stone and eight pounds and she is not a very robust filly. She has been a bit highly strung in the past being by Authorized but she is growing up all the time and settled very well on Saturday. Dan Muscutt rides her out most days and has done an excellent job settling her. They have all come out of their races in fine fettle. At Nottingham SUSPECT PACKAGE also ran an excellent race to finish third and had to go through some narrow gaps to be beaten a neck and a neck. Timmy Murphy gave him an excellent ride. On Monday we had MOD (very well named being by Sixties Icon) having her first race at Weatherby. She was hardly in training as a two year old so had a lot of catching up to do. She ran well for a long way and then just got tired. LADY BERGAMOT went to Windsor for her second ever race having just had one run as a two year old. She was sitting just behind the leaders for most of the race and she also got tired.

At mid-day THE TIN MAN left for York where he is due to run in The Duke of York tomorrow. It will be his first race of the season and a bit of a daunting prospect. He seems well but he doesn't do a lot at home so it is hard to judge him. He did a nice piece of work on Racecourse side last Wednesday and came out of that well. Last year we headed to a Listed race at Windsor first time out so it is a big step up starting off in a Gp2 giving weight all round. Most of his owners will be there tomorrow so hopefully he will run well for them. Unfortunately his daily rider Tom Fanshawe has to stay at home to do some work so wont be there to see him.
