Weekly Update 3rd July

Posted on: 3rd Jul 2016

Our runners have done us proud this week with a fifty percent strike rate with three winners from six runners. RETURN ACE, GOTHIC EMPIRE and POINTEL all won. RETURN ACE has now won three from five and been second and third in her other two. She is quite a character and when she was younger quite a difficult one at that but with age she has grown up. She is as tough as old boots and tries her heart out on the racecourse but at home she does not do a tap. GOTHIC EMPIRE has always raced in a hood but it was left off on Thursday and he had gone down a grade and it seemed to be just what he needed as he won nicely by eight lengths!! POINTEL really needs a mile and a half but as the ground was soft at Nottingham James decided to run him there over a mile and a quarter. It wasn't looking too good as there was no place and when the leader kicked for home poor old POINTEL was left rather flat footed but once he stoked himself up and he got to the front the result was never in doubt.

THE TIN MAN worked nicely on the Limekilns yesterday but it has been decided to take him out of The July Cup tomorrow and hopefully he will run in The Hackwood Stakes at Newbury seven days later. Everything has been a rush for THE TIN MAN this season and it would be nice to go into a race without any hassle. He has come out of The Diamond Jubilee very well but there are some good Gp1 sprint races at the end of the year to still concentrate on.

Fred Archer Racing look as if they might have two runners at The July Festival. Fred Archer Racing - Ladylove Partnership have their two year old filly MAGICAL DREAMER due to run in the British Stallion Studs EBF Maiden Fillies Stakes on Thursday. She is a filly by Acclamation out of an Indian Ridge mare and will be our second two year old runner. Hayley Turner has been riding her and said that we should start off on the turf rather than the all weather a day before. She is a tough little filly and hopefully she will run well. LORD GEORGE will be entered in the twelve furlong Handicap which is the last race of the meeting on the Saturday. PERMISSION and COLUMN both have entries on the first two days of the meeting. PERMISSION won her first and only race two weeks ago at Newmarket by six lengths. She is a very athletic filly by Authorized who does not hold on to a lot of condition and is a half sister to Cotai Glory. COLUMN is always full of life and is quite a character. He won his maiden at Beverley by 8 lengths and was clobbered with a high handicap mark. He has recently been gelded.

We also have some interesting entries elsewhere next week. TEGARA starts the week off at Ripon. This is only her second ever start and her first since finishing third in a Newmarket Maiden. ESTEEMABLE & SPIRIT RASIER are both running in The Listed Pippalong Stakes at Pontefract. MACADAMIA who is SPIRIT RAISERS dam won this race when it use to be run prior to Royal Ascot. She went on to win The Royal Hunt Cup and The Falmouth Stakes. ESTEEMABLE has been a revelation this season having won four of her six starts. She can be quite a madam at home but is so tough and wants to win on the racecourse. She has settled down a lot since getting in foal to Bated Breath. It would be lovely for her to get a bit of black type before heading off to the paddocks. She looks magnificent at the moment.

We have three fillies, SLEEPLESSINSEATTLE, ALZEBARH and SILCA WINGS, going off to The July Sales this week. SLEEPLESSINSEATTLE is having a last run at Wolverhampton beforehand and possibly ALZEBARH at Lingfield.

ARTHENUS is going to run in The John Smiths Cup at York next Saturday. He ran a blinder at Royal Ascot where he came from a long way off the pace to finish fourth. He has a lot of ability and came good about this time last year. He looks so well and catches the eye every morning but has given us a couple of disappointing days this year.

PRINCESSE EVA, ZEST SINGAPORE SLING, SAM MISSILE, ENMESHING and RETURN ACE also have entries. All the horses look very well and hopefully will run as well as they look.
