Weekly Update 16th July

Posted on: 16th Jul 2018

It looked as if Fred Archer Racings http://www.fredarcherracing.com/ MASTER ARCHER might get his second win when upping in class in the John Smith's Stayers' Handicap but was beaten three quarters of a length at the line by Northwest Frontier. It looked as if it was a very good race at the time but now I see the winner was second to Euchen Glen last time and he won The John Smiths Cup on Saturday and prior to that beaten a nose in The Northumberland Vase the consolation race for the Northumberland Plate.

Richard Fahey mentioned in the Racing Post that he had something like twenty eight runners on the day and that his best chance was Northwest Frontier so I think MASTER ARCHER did very well. I dont think that David Probert has ridden for us before but he rode a lovely race on his, gave us a really good resume of the race afterwards and seemed a thoroughly good man.

The previous day we had another Fred archer Racing horse running when we upped MAGICAL DREAMER in class by running her in the Gp3 Summer Stakes. It proved too good for her but she was unable to get any cover and she was a bit too keen too early and didnt get home in the end. I think if she had got some cover and they had not gone so slow early she may have got third but she definitely would not have won. We will try and find her a Listed Race somewhere and it would be good to get her on some softer grounder which she prefers.

Fred Archer Racing had three runners last week when EXCELLERATION ran at Yarmouth on Wednesday. He was not declared but the race re-opened so James decided to run him and he finished second. He now has two seconds and two thirds from five runs to his name. He is still a baby and needs to strengthen and then I think we will see a nice horse.

The only other runner of the week was Cheveley Parks VOLUMINOUS in the 1m4f Handicap at Wolverhampton who unfortunately missed the break and never got into the race which was disappointing.

At this stage I am not sure what is going to run this week but everyone is waiting for some rain. Another Fred Archer Racing horse THE PINTO KID has three entries this week but is unlikely to take any of them up unless we get some good ground. PEGASUS KID is running in a race at Lingfield on Wednesday even though there are only four runners it looks an interesting one. THE TIN MANS half sister INDIAN TYGRESS is running at Wolverhampton. She won first time out on soft ground and it is unlikely that we are going to get that for quite a while and she is ready for a race now.
DESTINATA has an entry at Yarmouth but I would think she would appreciate some rain, BLUE REFLECTION is a nice filly who is entered at Leicester on Thursday as is SCARAMANGA and THE PINTO KID and SITAR.

MAZZINI has a lot of talent when things go right for him and he is entered at Doncaster. He is enjoying running over 7f. SCARAMANGA and THE PINTO KID are entered in the same race at Pontefract. Everything is up in the air at the moment.
