The Tin Man reunited with Tom Quealley

Posted on: 17th Feb 2016

We had to warn Tom not to expect too much from THE TIN MAN as he is a notorious lazy worker at home but he was very happy with him. Although he didn't go away for a holiday this winter he had a good break here. He has done very well over the winter and looks as if he has got stronger. He will not be rushed to be ready for the early part of the season and he will tell us when he is ready for a race.

This time last year the horses did not look as well as James would have liked but this year they are healthy and well and he is able to give them plenty of work. We have a couple of fillies that are working but in the main they will not be doing faster for a week or so yet. When they do start working they will be ready for it.

Due to the mild winter we have already had a good few owners to see their horses. I think everyone is looking forward to the coming season. We have a lovely lot of older horses and some very nice lightly raced three year olds that could be anything. Exciting times ahead.

It has been tough for all the girls and boys in the yard over the winter as a lot of staff disappear to warmer climates. The ones that have stayed have worked very hard and done a great job and we are very grateful Luckily we are just beginning to attract some new good staff to the yard which is certainly making the trainer as well as everyone else happy. We could still do with a few more but hopefully it will get round that it is happy place to work and a good job.
