THE TIN MAN is heading up the M6

Posted on: 7th Sep 2017

THE TIN MAN was one of twelve horses declared for The Haydock Champion Sprint this morning. He is drawn in stall 9 with Harry's Angel in 8 and Cougar Mountain in 10. It sounds as if conditions are going to be very similar to last year where THE TIN MAN ran a cracker of a race. He unfortunatly missed the break on that day when nothing was winning from behind. He made up a tremendous amount of ground to finish second. He is a fantastic horse and we are not worried what sort of ground it is on Saturday. it will be an exciting race as I know that Willliam Haggas is pretty confident that Tasleet will go pretty close. We are never confident but we think THE TIN MAN is in excellent form and we are looking forward to running him.

In the meantime we have plenty more runners. Tomorrow (Friday) is so hectic with two runners in France (GREAT WHITE SHARK & ARTHENUS). We bought GREAT WHITE SHARK with Malcolm Denmark in Deauville two years ago and she is a filly James has always loved and hopefully she is improving. ARTHENUS has run well in France in the past but is his own man and if everything goes smoothly for him is definitely up to winning a race like this as he proved last year. The two runners at Haydock are (MAGICAL DREAMER & SITAR). We are running MAGICAL DREAMER over 5f for the first time and in the soft ground it should suit her. We didn't think she quite got home in it over 6f last time. SITAR absolutely loves the ground and the softer the better. At Ascot we have REPLENISH who has had a holiday and this is his first race back. He looks great at home and very happy. Only KNIGHT OWL knows what he is going to do but he is pretty good on his day and when everything goes right for him, George Wood is riding both of these. Our last runner of the day is SAM MISSILE at Kempton. Another who has loads of ability and when everything goes right for him can go close. Timmy Murphy is riding him.

Saturday is a lot easier with just THE TIN MAN and CAPE TO CUBA at Thirsk. Tony Hamilton is riding CAPE TO CUBA and he has done very well for us in the past so hopefully he will get the best out of her. CAPE TO CUBA is named after a restaurant close to her owner Mary Slacks home just outside Capetown.

I think James and I will be pleased when we get home on Saturday evening as it has been a stressful few days trying to organise all the runners tomorrow and then the big race on Saturday.
