THE TIN MAN Exceeds All Expectations

Posted on: 22nd Oct 2015

THE TIN MAN ran a great race on Saturday to finish fourth in what was not only his first time in a Group One but also his first race in Group company. He would have preferred a stronger early pace as like his brother he prefers to come through horses rather than being up there. We were delighted with him and looking forward to running him in the top sprint races next year. His official handicap rating went up 7lbs to 112. His half brother DEACON BLUES ended his three year old days with a rating of 95. What I personally was very pleased about was the laid back way he took the day. There was a lot of noise and hype and he took it all in his stride. Tom Queally was also very impressed with the way he took everything. In his early races he did get a bit jig joggy down at the stalls and was a little tetchy once in the them but Tom said he was like an old pro on Saturday.

GALE FORCE was just not good enough to compete with the top stayers on Saturday. She is a lovely looking filly and I am not sure what her future is at the moment. She may improve again over the winter or retire and go to stud. She has some black type now which will help her at stud. She has a pedigree full of winners.

We were a little disappointed with SPEEDY BOARDING. Since her win in the Listed Ballymacoll Stakes at Newbury nothing has been particularly smooth for her. She had seemed in great form at home before the race but you never know with fillies at this time of year. We will look forward starting anew with next year.

RIBBONS looked as if she was coming to run a very big race when Frankie said she stumbled and lost her action which was a huge shame. She had looked as good as ever at home. The December Sales is where she is heading next. She is from a family that we all love here at Pegasus and will make someone a wonderful broodmare. Her mother SISTER ACT died having a large foal which is due to come here any moment. This was a huge blow for Elite Racing as she looked destined to be a very successful broodmare. It would be most surprising if RIBBONS did not breed some extremely good racehorses.
