3rd November Update

Posted on: 3rd Nov 2015

Last week we had The Horses In Training Sale and it was sad seeing DUKE OF NORTH and AUMERLE go having just got everything right with them and seeing them both win so nicely. CELESTIAL KNIGHT also won his last race for us. They were all nice horses that could go on and win but they made very little money.

It is such a funny time of year as we have said goodbye to some of our old friends when they went up to the Horses In Training Sale and now we are beginning to get in the yearlings. A lot of the stables are empty which we hate to see but it does give us the chance to give them a spring clean before we move another horse in. Most of the fillies and geldings are away having a holiday. ZEST, SPEEDY BOARDING and THE TIN MAN are all chilling out here. We also have some horses who were not ready to run on the turf who will be having a run or two on the all weather.

We now have to look forward to next year and think we have a very nice lot of horses for 2016 some have not even run yet. Of the three year olds staying next year SPEEDY BOARDING,THE TIN MAN, STAR STORM and ARTHENUS all look exciting. Hopefully both MODERAH, PECKING ORDER, FLY and UP IN LIGHTS will continue to improve. MR PICKWICK has been gelded which should be the making of him. He is a big horse who has ability and will show it next season. COLUMN looked a nice colt when winning well at Beverley. When we syndicated LORD GEORGE this time last year we said to all the partners do not expect anything in 2015 as he is big and backward and may not even run. He has done more than we ever expected by running a third in his first race and then won before he was put away for next year. There are also plenty of dark horses I haven't mentioned that could improve and quite a few who haven't even run.

I have a new hack called TARZAN loaned to me by Sara Cumani. I am loving being out on the heath on a horse again and riding upsides the horses on the way home. He is very good at standing and watching the horses canter past. Two I picked out this morning who have only just come in are the colt SAM MISSILE and the filly ISSUE. Two good looking horses.

Five yearlings are coming in this evening. The three Fred Archer Racing horses an Acclamation filly ex Dopuble Fantasy, Kyllachy colt ex Joshua's Princess and a Mastercraftsman colt ex Kinigi as well as Ben Wongs colts by Zoffany ex Star of Stars colt and Fastnet Rock ex Althea Rose. all have been broken in and ridden away.
