Zest to Relish Kempton

Posted on: 2nd Apr 2016

Elite Racing Clubs well named Duke of Marmalade filly, ZEST, is due to have her first run of the year at Kempton this afternoon. She does have a One Thousand Guineas entry, which may be a bit ambitious, James had hoped he'd found a nice race to start her 2016 campaign but it looks rather more competitive than he had hoped. We just want to see her run well and whatever happens she will come on for the run. She is a lovely filly to have in the yard and has a lot to live up to as she is stabled in the same box her aunt SOVIET SONG lived in and opposite her cousin RIBBONS old box.

We have two more young relations this year. Little ROUBLES who is SOVEIT SONG'S second and last foal who is going nicely and will be fairly early. The other filly is TRIBUTE ACT who is SISTER ACT'S last foal and a sister to RIBBONS who will take a bit more time.

We are thrilled to have Hayley Turner riding out for us now. She comes in when she can as she is busy with other projects. This week she has been in four times and has enjoyed riding POINTEL everyday. This morning she rode him work and was very happy with him. Not is it a great advantage to have Hayley riding out for us but she is great fun to have about. She jollys James along at breakfast and he loves it.

We had our first work morning over Racecourse side this morning. It was all nice work on the bridle. First up was STAR STORM (Tom Queally) & HIGHER POWER the following groups were ARTHENUS & HORS DE COMABT, REPLENISH (Freddy Tylicki) & COLUMN, SAM MISSILE (Dan Muscutt) & LORD GEORGE, MR PICKWICK, NOBLE STAR, REGICIDE & POINTEL (Hayley Turner), KING OF NAPLES & ALZEBARH. It was beautiful ground and it was so good to see them all stretch out.

We could have four runners on Wednesday if REPLENISH runs at Lingfield, KNIGHT OWL at Nottingham and LORD GEORGE & REPLENISH go at Kempton.
