RIBBONS runs in Ireland

Posted on: 11th Sep 2015

RIBBONS is heading back to the Curragh for the second time this year. She is due to run in The Blandford Stakes a Group Two on sunday. We are hoping in the meantime that there will be some rain. The forecast is for rain but sometimes the forecast isnt always right. Last time she went to the at the end of June I thought she ran one of her best races ever to finish third beaten a neck and short head by winner Diamondsandrubies and Legatissimo giving them twelve pounds. She had Secret Gesture two lengths behind her and Pleasach another half a length away. I think that we can disregard her last race at Deauville and hopefully she is back in tip top form. Here are the runners.

We have a Fred Archer Racing two year old having his first race today at Salisbury. Named LORD GEORGE he is by Sir Percy out of the Linamix mare Mahima so his future is more likely to be as a three year old. It would be disappointing if he didnt run a nice race though. I am looking forward to seeing him run.

FLORISS is also running this afternoon. She is a talented filly but we were a little bit disappointed with her run last time and felt it may have been the fast ground. It was faster than the first time she ran and won on it but sometimes you get away with running on unsuitable ground once.

CELESTIAL KNIGHT is running tomorrow. You would have to ask him how he was going to run? He is in good form at home but he has a character all of his own. A lovely kind horse who doesn't have a bad bone in his body.

COLUMN ran a very encouraging first race at Leicester finishing sixth beaten two and a half lengths. It looked as if it might have been quite a good race. SWORDBEARER ran an excellent race in the Legends Race at Doncaster. He jumped rather slowly and they went like the clampers so he was off his feet for a major part of the race but he loved running through horses to finish fourth. Gay Kelleway absolutely loved riding him and said that he had given her a great ride. PECKING ORDER just came up against one to good in her race at Kempton. It was like watching Little & Large.

We were so disappointed with DUKE OF NORTH. There is very little to say about his run. We would have loved more than anything for him to do well for his owners. DONT STARE has been retired. He is a lovely horse but has had his problems so his owners are taking him back home. He was the first horse bred by his owners and he gave them some wonderful highs. In 2013 and 2014 he was placed in all his races bar one but he was just not the same this year.
