LADY BERGAMOT Puts In A Brave Performance to Win

Posted on: 2nd Sep 2017

LADY BERGAMOT put up a very gutsy performance to win The Levin Down Fillies' Handicap at Goodwood on the 27th August. It was obvious that there was going to be very little pace in the race so George Woods instructions was to go and make it. Two furlongs from home it looked as if any of the other runners could come winging past her but she knuckled down to win by a head from White Chocolate. It was a very brave performance. LADY BERGAMOT is a half sister by Mastercraftsman to LORD GEORGE another inmate at Pegasus Stables. Both were bought at The Arqana October Yearling Sales off Amelie Ehrnrooths Haras de Bourgeauville. She looks as if she is a progressive filly having won three of her six races now.

It has been a quiet week for runners with just GOTHIC EMPIRE,ZEST and ENVISAGING running on Thursday. All three have been rather frustrating. GOTHIC EMPIRE has a lot of ability which we see at home but have not seen on the racetrack recently. ZEST ran a much better race at Chelmsford to finish third running over 7f for the first time. Having got a good position from a good draw she was running on in the final furlong. She was a bit keen early on in the race. She seems to like the all weather better than the turf so I think the plan is to stick to that. ENVISAGING was running at Wolverhampton and finished fourth but was only beaten a head. He is always placed and tries his best.
