Frustrating Time

Posted on: 27th Jul 2018

Today saw the first rain for well over a month and it was very welcome. Unfortunately it wasn't enough and would have done very little to change the ground conditions. It does menat we wont have to water the plants today.

PREENING ran a good race at Ascot in the 1m (7f213y) (Rnd) Markerstudy British EBF Valiant Stakes (Listed Race) (Fillies & Mares) (Class 1) (3yo+) to finish third beaten only three quarters of a length. She hit the front two furlongs out which was quite early but she did well to stay on and keep third. She is a lovely big filly and should go on improving.

Our old friend KNIGHT OWL is running in the 1m (July) Fly London Southend Airport To Prague Handicap (Class 3) (3yo+ 0-90) at Newmarket tonight. He is now eight years old and only he knows how he is going to run. He looks jolly well and George Wood knows him very well. SLEEPING LION has an entry in the 1m4f (July) Fly London Southend Airport To Dubrovnik Handicap (Class 3) (3yo 0-90) at Newmarket tonight as well as at Ascot tomorrow in the 1m4f (1m3f211y) Canisbay Bloodstock Handicap (Class 3) (3yo+ 0-90). He actually likes faster ground so wouldnt want anymore rain at Newmarket.

TRIBUTE ACT leaves tonight for Deauville as she is running in the Prix Rothschild on Sunday. It will be her first time in a Group One but she ran very well in a Group Two last time. Her victor Aljazzi is also in the race so she will need to have imrpoved to have any chance. She is supposed to be going on the train through the tunnel but there have been big delays. it is a bit of a worry as we dont want her to have a bad trip over at this stage.
