Friday 29th May

They have all run very well and are giving us and their owners hope for the future. It is always difficult to keep the morale high when you are not having winners but everybody in the yard has remained in good form and the atmosphere is good.

There are definitely some nice horses coming along. STAR STORM fell out of the stalls at Sandown and had to sit and suffer but made up a lot of ground to finish second in only his second race. HIGH JINX didn't run at Sandown as James felt the ground was fast enough for him at this stage of the season. RIBBONS will not be running at Royal Ascot as the only race for her was The Prince of Wales's Stakes against the colts so she was taken out last week. Both she and HIGH JINX are in excellent form. Although The Lockinge was possibly a bit too good for HORS DE COMBAT we don't think he was in the best of form on the day and that he is better than his run suggested. He has had an easy time since and we want to get him bouncing again.

The atmosphere in a yard can be a bit tricky when you are not having the best of runs but I have to say everyone is in great form as everyone can see that the horses are run well if not winning. In the last couple of weeks we have not really had a horse that has disappointed so hopefully it is only a matter of time before they start getting their heads in front.

SPEEDY BOARDING delighted everyone with her win at Goodwood. She is a big quite raw filly who should go on improving with time. Actually going round evening stables she is one of the few who doesn't actually look as if she has come to herself yet. Her coat is a bit behind some of the others and she will appreciate some sun on her back. It is still very cold in the mornings.
