Replenish winning the second part of a double at Kempton on Wednesday

FLY kept her unbeaten record to make it three from three at Kempton on Wednesday evening. She is so tough and although looked beaten at one stage battled to get up and win by three quarters of a length. She did not run as a two year old and was hardly in training but has certainly made up for it this year. She is a half sister to SEAL OF APPROVAL and GALE FORCE so is entitled to get better with age. She is so tough you forget that she has not got much vision in one eye.

We were delighted to see REPLENISH get up to win after his two seconds. He is a very tough horse but came up against two nice horses in his previous races. He was coming back in trip to seven furlongs but the feeling is that he will get further.

James and I had just arrived back from the yearling sales in Deauville earlier in the day. There was a much more laid back feel to the sale. The French prep their horses quite differently to the English. Some of the studs tend to have them lighter and do not do so much with them so they look more natural. We bought two nice fillies. The first one was a grey filly by Mastercraftsman out of Mahima making her a half sister to LORD GEORGE. She reminded us of him in her demeanour and the way she walked. She looks as if she will have the same sort of program as he had and hopefully have a couple of runs in September and October. We were thrilled to get her as we like LORD GEORGE who is now rated 79 after his two runs.

The second filly was bought for Malcolm Denmark by Crispin de Moubray. She is by Le Havre out of Trip to Fame and has already been named LUCKY TRIP which Malcolm may or may not change. She is also a grey filly and will also take a little time.

We watched DUKE OF NORTH run at Lingfield in the bar at the sales paddocks and was thrilled to see him get up and win. He hadn't run over six furlongs since his two year old days and it seemed to be what he needed. Afterwards Malcolm had the winner of the bumper at Exeter which was bought by Crispin at Baden Baden yearling sales. Everyone was in very good mood when Lot 183 came along an hour later.

We are delighted that Mr Obaida is sending us two more yearlings this year. One is a Sea The Stars colt and the other a Sepoy filly. We have some very nice horses for the Obaida family next year spearheaded by STAR STORM. SAAB ALMANAL will also still be in training is a very nice horse and is due to run early next week. He has been off the course for a while and is a very big horse so may need his first race back. MODERAH is running in The St Simon Stakes but whatever she does on Saturday, as you never know what form fillies are in at this time of year, she will be a lovely filly next year. TEGARA ran a great first race at Newmarket to finish third, no mean feat. UP IN LIGHTS has done very well winning twice and finishing a close third in a Newmarket handicap beaten three quarters of a length by two older and much more experienced horses. ALZEBARH is the only one that has been slightly disappointing but may improve over the winter. There is a lot to look forward to in 2016.

Tom Fanshawe looks as if he may have got an outside ride in an amateur race next Monday. He is going to ride out for Mark Tompkins tomorrow to get use his horse. This will be his first outside ride, hopefully all goes well.
