Ascot Over

Posted on: 20th Jun 2016

Royal Ascot did not prove to be a happy hunting ground for the yard in 2016. Our two horse in The Hunt Cup did not enjoy the ground, MISSED CALL had a terrible draw, THE TIN MAN was not himself on the day but ARTHENUS ran well in to finish fourth beaten less than a length in The Wolferton.

Luckily PERMISSION and ESTEEMABLE gave us a nice ending to the week by both winning. PERMISSION is a half sister to Cotai Glory and was having her first race. She is by Authorized and has taken an age to come to herself. She looked a nice filly last year but could never quite get her to the stage when we could run her. Anyway she made op for it on Saturday and her long awaited debut proved a successful one. ESTEEMABLE is in foal to Bated Breath and has won two times and been second since being covered. She is so tough and has settled down since being in foal.

It looks as if we have a busy week ahead of us. Today we have three runners at Windsor and one at Wolverhampton. SINGAPORE SLING is having his first race at Windsor tonight. He has done so well recently and overcome his nervousness. I would love to see him run a nice race as he does have ability. KING OF NAPLES has been given a huge handicap mark but he will love the ground and has George Wood on him to take 7lbs off his back. INDULGED is a lovely big filly who we really like and who stepped up on her first run to win a 10f maiden at Ripon. I would love to see PRINCESSE EVA do well at Woilverhampton. She was trained in France last season and Normandie Stud purchased her as she was a half sister to Covert Love. She has shown at home that she has ability if she can transfer that to the racecourse we would be very happy. She is wearing a hood today and Dan Muscutt is good on fillies.
