AVON LADY'S son KING OF NAPLES having his first run on turf hacked up in soft conditions at Redcar yesterday. This tough little son of Excellent Art was running on the turf for the first time and lapped up the soft ground and surprised us all by winning so easily. George Wood who had ridden him at Kempton the last time he ran was on him again and took off a valuable seven pounds. His owner Paul Ryan, is a director at Tattersalls, was unable to make the journey to Redcar to see his horse win as he was on duty at the Breeze Up Sales. He has a tendency to hold his head high but this has no bearing on his tenacity and he is as genuine as was his mother. He is not very big and we hope that he will be able to progress upwards.

Today has been spent at the Tattersalls Breeze Up Sales. We came away with two colts. A lovely Wootton Bassett colt out of the Gone West mare Orleana who was purchased by Ellie Morgan who has put a syndicate together. Appletree Stud, last year bought SAM MISSILE at The Craven Breeze Ups, this year secured a nice colt with an American pedigree by Lonhro out of Pretty Meadow who is by a stallion called Meadowlake. Lets hope they are very successful for their new owners.

We have quite a few runners this weekend. ARTHENUS is a horse we have always liked and since being gelded has improved hugely. He is running in the first race a 1m1f handicap and is drawn in the middle. Runnning in the same race is KNIGHT OWL with George Wood taking seven pounds off his back. He could really enjoy conditions tomorrow but he is a funny old character who we enjoy having in the yard. He has been going nicely at home. STAR STORM is a very handsome colt by Sea The Stars who really got his act together the second half of last season and ended up winning The Cumberland Lodge at Ascot at the end of the season. It is a very tough race tomorrow andhe is one of the outsiders but we hope for a good run to encourage us for the rest of the season.

At Goodwood MODERAH is running in the Listed Daisy Warwick Stakes. She was third in the Group three St Simon Stakes at Newbury last year beaten two lengths. she has done particularly well over the winter but it looks a very hot race with Miss Marjurie spearheading the field. She is by Makfi and has turned into a very good looking filly having looked very weak last year.

MAZZINI is running at Doncaster in the evening. He ran a fine first race when he was slow away at Kempton but ran on to get beaten a head. We hope he will run. He is from a family that we have had at Pegasus since James started and have had FRIZZANTE, ZIDANE & his dam FIRENZE here at Pegasus. he is owned by Peter & Jan Hopper, who bred him, and Mike & Michelle Morriss.

On Sunday SAM MISSILE runs in the last race at Newmarket. He won his one and only race Kempton very easily but this will be a lot harder. He is a lovely horse we think has a good future ahead of him.
