A Busy Weekend Ahead

Posted on: 31st Aug 2016

Pegasus Stables has a busy three days. PERMISSION has headed over to Chantilly for the Listed Prix de la Cochere tomorrow where there are nine runners. Her owners, Julie Scott and brother James Deane and friend Fiona Trenchard are going over there to see her run. She is a half sister to Cotai Glory by Authorized. At one stage she wanted to do everything to quickly but she has settled down now and been doing well at home. ARTHENUS is also off to France again. He is running on Sunday at Saint Cloud. He ran very well at Deauville last time when he finished second to New Bay.

SAM MISSILE won his first race very easily at Kempton on January 6th but then went rather backward but has been going much better at home. He is running at Salisbury tomorrow and will be wearing cheek pieces to help him concentrate.

On Friday we have HORS DE COMBAT running at Ascot in the Stella Artois Handicap. He is a lovely horse with a lot of ability but has rather lost his way recently. We would love to get him winning again to boost his confidence. ENMESHING is making the long trip to Newcastle. He is a horse that James has always liked but has slightly disappointed in his two races. Hopefully the all weather track at Newcastle will make all the difference. He is a very good looking horse by Mastercraftsman.

In the evening FLY & LORD GEORGE run at Kempton. FLY is running in 32 Red Apprentice Stakes and will be ridden by George Wood who is doing very well in his first season riding. Later on LORD GEORGE will be taking on six opponents in the 32red Handicap. The plan had been to run him at Yarmouth last Sunday but the ground was too firm for him.

Saturday is our big day with THE TIN MAN running in The Gp1 Haydock Sprint. He is owned by ten partners and everyone is very excited. He has had a very interrupted year but all seems to be well with him now and we are hopeful he will run a good race. Earlier in the card ZEST a filly we had high hopes for earlier in the season is running in EBF BREEDERS´ SERIES 32REDSPORT.COM FILLIES´ HANDICAP. We were surprised how hard she pulled in her races earlier in the season and much happier now she has learnt to settle. She won her last race on the line with Tom Queally riding when the ground would have been fast enough for her. The ground will be much more to her liking on Saturday.

Poor KING OF NAPLES has paid the price for winning a Redcar maiden by nine lengths. He is not very big to be carrying large weights. He has come down five pounds recently . He is running at Kempton in the 7f TOTESCOOP6 THE MILLIONAIRE MAKER HANDICAP. REPLENISH is the sort of horse everybody would love to own he puts everything in to his races. He has won all his races on the all weather so far. He runs in the TOTEPOOL LONDON MILE HANDICAP.

Some of the horses have suffered from the bacterial infection that has hit quite a few yards in Newmarket but they all seem fit and well again now. They all look very well and we are happy with them.

Now to change the subject completely. James very kindly took Tom and myself out to dinner last week. He chose The Red Lion at Cheveley. I cannot stress how good the food was. This little restaurant is very under rated because the food is delicious and very unpretentious just excellent ingredients cooked very well with great flavours. Even Tom commented on how delicious the food was and I dont think he will refuse the invitation if we offer to take him back there. If you are in the area and need somewhere for dinner book a table in this restaurant. The night we were there the two jockeys Adam Kirby and Pat Cosgrave were in there with their wives.
